Introduction
DVD's are much more convenient than video tapes. They are smaller, of superior quality and never wear out.
They will play on DVD players, as well as computers and laptops.
We offer the following services -
* Video tape transfer to create a taylor made DVD.
* Archiving (transferring) collections of video and camcorder tapes to DVD
* Convert video and camcorder tapes to MPEG2 or AVI files.
* Video and camcorder tape repair
Video Tape Transferred Converted Copied to DVD
We can create a taylor made DVD from your tape or tapes.
The DVD can be auto play i.e. the DVD starts playing as soon as the DVD is loaded.
Alternatively the DVD can feature a basic menu that will display a main title. Selection or 'play' buttons will also be displayed, to which we can incorporate a label or 'title'.
The buttons will allow you to select a programme (or tape) without having to fast forward or rewind.
(For a DVD with a unique taylor made interactive menu we can 'author' the DVD, please click here for more information on this service).
Video tape formats we can convert or transfer from include - VHS, VHS-C, SVHS, SVHS-C,
8mm, Video 8, Hi-8, mini DV, Digital 8, Betamax.
Also professional broadcast video tape formats - DV Cam, Betacam, Beta SP, Digital Betacam, Betacam SX, DVC PRO, U Matic.
Video and Camcorder Tape Archiving on DVD
Video tapes won't last forever, even if they are simply stored away and not used.
The images and sound will deteriorate over time due to stray magnetic fields.
Even changes in temperature and humidity can cause physical damage.
Then there is the wear and tear from playing, and the inevitable day the machine decides to 'chew up' your tapes.
Your irreplaceable video tapes will eventually become unplayable.
DVDs on the other hand, can last a lifetime, and because the video tape is stored digitally on a DVD, the DVD can be copied easily and without loss of picture or sound quality.
In fact the picture quality from the DVD can be better than from the video tape, particularly when pausing or fast forwarding the picture.
We offer special discounted rates for archiving or transferring collections of analogue and digital video and camcorder tapes onto DVD.
* Analogue video tapes - Video formats we can convert or transfer from include - VHS, VHS-C, SVHS, SVHS-C,
8mm, Video 8, Hi-8, Betamax.
* Digital video tapes - Video formats we can convert or transfer from include mini DV, Digital 8.
Video tapes will be archived onto the DVD's in the order you specify, usually in chronological order.
A DVD will hold up to 2 hours of full digital DVD quality video recording, or 4 hours of analogue video recording.
You can include as many video and camcorder tapes as you like per DVD up to this time limit.
Each DVD will feature a menu that will display a main title, plus selection or 'play' buttons, one for each video tape.
To these buttons we can incorporate a label or 'title'.
The buttons will allow you to select a programme (or tape) without having to fast forward or rewind, as you had to with a video tape
We can also produce additional copies of the DVD's should you require them.
Video and Camcorder Tape conversion to Video Files
We can convert your video and camcorder tapes to MPEG2 or AVI video files, for storage, or for importing into your editing software
on your computer.
MPEG2 files are supplied on CD-ROM or DVD-ROM.
AVI files are very large. We can supply up to approx. 3 minutes on CD-ROM, 20 Minutes on DVD-ROM, or whatever size required on external hard drive which you can supply, or buy or hire from us.
Video Tape Repairs
We can usually carry out a temporary repair to domestic analogue video tape in order to transfer it.
We will not attempt to repair digital or broadcast video tape.
