Scanning Photographic Prints
We can scan photo prints up to A4 in size.
Photo prints are particularly susceptible to deterioration and damage by fading and tearing.
We can scan and digitize colour and black & white photographs and picture postcards up to A4 size.
If requested we can scan both sides of a photograph, so if you have a cherished photo with vital notes on the back, this will also be preserved.
If you also have the negatives to your prints, it is better to submit these for scanning as they will deliver a higher quality result.
Scanning APS Advantix Film Negatives
We can scan APS film. The small size and curly nature of this film makes it particularly difficult to scan, but we have devised and perfected a system to allow us to do this.
Please note - We cannot scan selected images from a strip, all images on a strip are scanned and charged for. Please do not remove the film from the cartridge and do not cut the strips into individual pictures.

Scanning Disc Film
We can scan disc film. The very small size of this film makes it particularly difficult to scan, but we have devised and perfected a system to allow us to do this.
Please note - We cannot scan selected images from a disc, all images on a disc are scanned and charged for. Please do not cut or remove individual pictures from the disc.
For more information on the disc film format and an identification guide please visit the

The Photo Scanning Process
Each photograph, slide transparency or negative film is carefully and individually blow dusted prior to scanning. We then perform a pre-scan. This allows us to preview how the resulting photo scan will appear, and enable us to enhance and edit the image if required, by making any colour, brightness or contrast adjustments, as well as cropping to delete untidy edges.
Once we are happy with the result, we perform a full scan. Dust and scratch removal technologies including Digital Ice may be employed when scanning if required. We then check and review the final result. We find it is not uncommon that our scans look even better than the original photo.
If the photos, slides or negatives are numbered, we will scan them in that order.
After scanning all the photos, the images are then copied onto and supplied on CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, Memory card or stick.
Unless otherwise instructed, the scanned photo image files will be presented in seperate labelled folders that relate to your indivdual boxes or envelopes of prints, slides or negatives.
Photo Scanning Resolutions
We will scan your photographs, slides, transparencies and negatives at your specified resolution, or you can advise us of your intended application for the scanned images, and we will scan at a suitable resolution.
As a general rule, we suggest scanning photos at the following resolutions which are usually adequate for viewing, editing and printing out the images -
Photographic Prints = 300dpi to 600dpi
Slides = 800dpi to 1200dpi
Negatives = 800dpi to 1200dpi
Medium / Large Format Negatives = 300dpi to 600dpi
DVD-Video Slide Show
We can create a DVD Slide Show from your scanned photographs, slides and negatives, complete with transitions and option of including titles and music. The DVD can be viewed on your TV or with a video projector, with a DVD player. The DVD features a menu that displays an attractive menu with main title, plus selection or 'play' buttons, one for each slideshow.
If you had already numbered and supplied your photos in the order you wanted them scanned, we can accordingly feature them in the same order on the DVD. Alternatively, you can view and check your scanned images first, before advising us of the order you would like the images to appear on the DVD slide show.
Preview Your Slides
If you want to view and check your 2" x 2" mounted slides before you send them to us for scanning, you can hire a simple to use photo slide viewer from us. The hire charge for the slide viewer will be deducted from the final scanning charge.
