Scanning 35 mm slides, photos, negatives, documents to CD, DVD.
High quality film and print scanning service
Introduction
Have all your precious and delicate pictures preserved forever.
We can scan and transfer them to CD or DVD as a series of common computer files such as jpeg's.
Once in this format you can -
* View them on a computer individually or as a slide show.
* Edit, manipulate and enhance them (with appropriate software).
* Email them, or publish them on a website.
* Print them out.
* Easily copy and distribute them to friends and family
* They can also be viewed on a tv, individually or as a slide show,
using a DVD player that plays jpeg's / photo CD's.
We can also produce slide shows on DVD-Video,
with menus, titles and music if required.
The Process
Each slide / negative is carefully blow dusted prior to scanning.
All formats are then scanned using a dedicated
slide / negative / photo scanner for maximum quality reproduction.
Finally they are transferred and supplied to you on CD-ROM or DVD-ROM.
We can present the image files in individual labelled folders if required.
Please note - We cannot undertake the task of identifying and scanning selected images
from a strip of negatives. All individual images from the same strip will be scanned and charged for.
Resolution
We can scan at your specified resolution, or you can advise us the intended application
and we will select the correct resolution for you.
For your guidance, below are suggested minimum resolution settings for various applications -
| Purpose |
Resolution |
| Sending email |
96 to 150 dpi |
| Printing |
300 dpi |
| Printing (35mm) |
1200 dpi |
| viewing on computer |
300 dpi |
| viewing on computer (35mm) |
800 dpi |
| viewing on tv |
300 dpi |
| viewing on tv (35mm) |
800 dpi |
When you specify a higher resolution,
the number of pixels of the data increases and the scanned image becomes fine in texture.
However, increasing the resolution causes the data size,
and accordingly the required storage space, to increase.
At a resolution higher than 3000 dpi,
35mm slides / negatives will not yield more information, just grain.
Image enhancement
We can use the following image enhancement software during the scan if required or requested.
* Dust Removal
* Improve image sharpness
* Liven up the colour of a scanned image
* Restore faded colour images
* Grain Reduction
Digital ICE
Digital ICE is a scanner hardware feature that removes stubborn dust,
scratches and mould on films and photographs.
It should only be used when these contaminations are present.
Using this facility means a longer scanning time.
(Some film types are not supported).
